This call for volunteers is to brush the “Best Day Ever” Loop adjacent to the Swampy Snowpark. It is used by the Bend area High School ski teams for training, by CONC for ski lessons, and others. There are some dead brush stalks that can be cut back using loppers. This will make it easier and safer for grooming the oval, especially when snow depths are marginal. This training trail is quite valuable for the local HS teams and its location at Swampy is critical when snow depths are lower at Meissner.
Nearly all the work is brushing with loppers. There are 2 protruding rocks that we will try to remove.
What to bring: please ensure you have the following required PPE:
- hard hat (let me know if you need one)
- Sturdy footwear – hiking boots are recommended.
- Work gloves
- We will bring all available CONC loppers. If you have your own pair that you want to bring, please do.
Carpooling: Meet at the Cascade Lakes Welcome Center at 9:00 to sort out carpooling. Contact me if you want to meet us at the Swampy Sno-Park instead.
