We finished Swede Loop last week! And just in time, because thinning operations have resumed in the Meissner and Vista Butte areas, which means we don’t have access to trails in those areas. So this week we’re turning our attention to Flagline.
There’s a stretch in the middle of Flagline that is not coincident with the bike trail, and hasn’t been surveyed. There’s also a stretch at the west end of the trail that we know needs some brushing and limbing attention. We’ll have two teams this week- one that will do a shuttle, and hike Flagline from Dutchman eastward to survey the trail and cut logs. The other team will hike from Dutchman, complete the brushing work and return to Dutchman. It will be a pretty full day for both groups.
I’ll be in contact with registrants on Tuesday to confirm details of the plan.
What to bring: please ensure you have the following required PPE:
- hard hat (let me know if you need one)
- Sturdy footwear
- Long sleeved shirt and long pants
- Eye protection
- a pack big enough to haul some extra tools and supplies.
Carpooling: Meet at the Cascade Lakes Welcome Center at 9:00 to sort out carpooling. Contact me if you want to meet us at the Dutchman Sno-Park instead.
