Vista Butte Intermediate Ski
This will involve some steeper hill climbing and descending, so participants should have good solid snow plow skills on steeper trails, and equipment should consist of more substantial Nordic no wax skis that are at least 68 mm in width with three pin, NNNBC, or Explore bindings and boots.
Level of Difficulty and Distance/Time expected: It is an intermediate level tour of about 6 miles and 900 feet of climbing. We will ski the Nordic Trail from Swampy.
When: Saturday, January 10
Meeting place/time: We'll meet at The Grove (921 NW Mt Washington Drive, Bend), inside the food hall at the south end in front of Thump Coffee. We will meet at 9:00 am to sign waivers and set up carpools. Departure for the sno-park no later than 9:15, so if you want a coffee, come a little early.
What to bring:
● Ten Essentials. Including tools & straps for ski/boot repairs.
● Proper winter clothing for insulation and protection from wind and rain. Dress in layers. No cotton!
● Glide wax, extra phone battery.
● Water, snack/lunch. Snacks and lunch are often eaten outside. Bring food that can be easily eaten quickly in case it is cold.
Dogs are not allowed.
