Snowshoe Trail Maintenance

The weather and trail conditions look great for work at Swampy on Tuesday, with several "opportunities" identified from recent scouting reports by Sara & Stu C., Kelly C., Tom M. & Gary E.; thank you so much! See the trail status report HERE.

The plan on Tuesday will be to do a 1-way from Swampy to Meissner; leaving one vehicle at Meissner to shuttle drivers back to Swampy. Depending on the number of folks, we may split into 2 groups to get as much of the identified "opportunities" cleared. This might include hiking 1/2-way up Telemark Butte to cut one larger blowdown. There is also a 26" log on the trail between Nordeen & Meissner.

Trail conditions are great with no snow. Walking distance will be about 3 1/2 miles; generally downhill.

Plans

Tuesday November 11th
(NOAA Forecast) . Mostly sunny, with a high near 53. Light southwest wind
Meet at Bend Parks & Recreation District Office Lot at 799 SW Columbia St (where the kayaks are in the roundabout) at 8:00 AM
We will park in the the parking spots closest to the river

Group up. Drive to Meissner Sno-Park and drop off one car; then continue to Swampy Sno-park.
Long-sleeve shirts, glasses, gloves and hard hats I will have a couple of extra hard hats
Boots - no snowshoes yet!
Katanaboy or silky hand saws if you have one. I will bring a couple of extra ones as well as a pole saw and x-cut. A second x-cut would be good so we can divide. If one of our certified sawyers wants to bring a chainsaw, it would likely speed up the cut on the Telemark Butte and Nordeen logs.
Expect to return to town by 3:30PM
