This hike will go in a clockwise direction all the way around Smith Rock State Park, starting on the River Trail, then along the Summit Trail, to the Burma Road Trail, and finishing on the Wolf Tree Trail. There is considerable elevation gain, but it is gradual on a trail with well-placed switchbacks and great views.
Distance: 7.3 mile loop. Plan on spending 6 hours, including drive time to/from the trailhead.
Elevation Gain: 1,620 feet.
Difficulty Level: Moderately Difficult
What to Bring: Summer ten essentials, water, snack/lunch, and proper footwear (no sandals or tennis shoes). Dogs are not allowed on this hike.

Carpooling: Carpooling can be arranged at the meeting place. It is a 35-minute drive to the trailhead and there is a $10 day-use parking fee, so we will try to minimize the number of vehicles needed to transport the group. If you ride with someone, please contribute for the parking fee and gas fund.
Meeting Time/Place: 8:30 am. Meet at the parking lot between Petsmart and Ashley Furniture in Cascade Center. Petsmart is located at 63455 N. Hwy 97, Bend, 97701, right off of NW Robal Ln and across from the new Costco. Trip leader will be driving a brown Ford truck.
Hikers coming from Redmond or Sisters can meet us at the Lowe's parking lot in Redmond at 9:00, if requested. Please let John Stephenson know if you will be meeting the group there.
