This scenic hike in the Ochoco Mountains features big views from the top of Round Mountain and the potential for many wildflowers. Distance: 10 miles RT. Plan on spending 9-11 hours including drive time to/from the trailhead. Elevation gain/loss: 1,800 feet of gain What to bring: Ten essentials, water, snack/lunch, and proper footwear, insect repellent (no tennis shoes or sandals). Dogs are not allowed on this hike. Difficulty level: difficult, must be able to hike sustained uphill grade Number of hikers: 8 maximum Carpooling: Carpooling can be arranged at the meeting place. It is about a 1.5 hr drive to the trailhead. If you ride with someone, please donate to their gas fund. Meeting time/place: 8:30 am. Meet at the parking lot between Petsmart and Ashley Furniture in Cascade Center. Petsmart is located at 63455 N Hwy 97, Bend, OR 97701, right off of NW Robal Lane and across from the new Costco. The trip leader will be driving a black Subaru.
