Last Week's navigation of the Dutchman and Todd Lake snowshoe trails continued the trend of the snowshoe trails being in great shape this season. We were able to get higher with the pole saws for clearing around the reassurance markers and were able to clear a couple of "bend-overs" that had blocked the trail. This week we will return to Swampy and shoe the Porcupine Loops as it has been a little over a month since we last cleared the trails. Plan will be shoe counterclockwise with one group heading over Telemark Butte and the other via the Summit Bypass. We will rejoin and then split again to check each of the tie trails.



I will pause the regular Tuesday work sessions after this week as we are just not encountering significant blowdown this year. In the meantime, any reports on conditions of the trails will be very helpful.


 Plans                  

  • Tuesday January 21st
    •  (NOAA Forecast) . Sunny, with a high near 39. Southwest wind 6 to 9 mph, with gusts as high as 18 mph
  • Meet at Bend Parks & Recreation District Office Lot at 799 SW Columbia St (where the kayaks are in the roundabout) at 8:30 AM
  • We will park in the the parking spots closest to the river
  • Group up. Drive to Swampy Sno-Park
  • SNOWSHOES, Long-sleeve shirts, glasses, gloves and hard hats  I will have a couple of extra hard hats
  • Crosscut and katanaboy if you have one. We will select what we need when we divide up. I will have a pole saw. 
  • Expect to return to town by 3:30PM
